Dates: Summer 2021, June – September 2021

Project Description: The research internship included working on Google's quantum theory team. The team was working on the physics problem applicable to the Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices. In particular, the team was trying to design a physical problem realizing which on a NISQ quantum computer would potentially help with calibrating quantum gates and reducing dephasing.

Relevance to Research: “Since my university research is related to quantum computing, the internship was relevant and helpful. In university, I am focused more on hardware problems for the quantum computer, whereas the internship was focused more on potential applications of the quantum computer and hence, it provided me with insides from a different angle.” - Khindanov
