Biography

I am currently an Assistant Project Scientist in the Materials Department since 2020, after I joined the department as a Postdoctoral Associate in 2017. I received my PhD in 2014 from the International PhD program of Fundamental Physics of the University of Naples Federico II, in collaboration with the department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience at Chalmers University of Technology, where I later joined the Quantum Device Physics group as a Postdoctoral Scholar.

My interests and expertise lie at the intersection between the physics of superconductors and the physics of topological and correlated materials. My aim is to investigate the electronic properties of quantum materials and use this knowledge to advance cuttingedge technological applications, such as quantum computing. As a Quantum Foundry associate at UC Santa Barbara, my role is to investigate the topological properties of Al/Cd3As2/Al coplanar Josephson junctions. This is a natural extension of my main scientific interest of understanding the topological properties of Cd3As2, a recently discovered 3D Dirac semimetal. This material represents an extremely versatile and powerful system, owing to its ability to be tuned into different topological phases.
