Emily Trageser

Biography

Emily is from Pittsburgh, PA, and obtained her B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Penn State University. During her time at Penn State, she worked under Dr. Douglas Wolfe at the Penn State Applied Research Lab in the Ceramics, Metals, and Coatings Processing Department developing oxide thin films using electron-beam physical vapor deposition. Emily came to UC Santa Barbara in 2020 to pursue graduate studies in Materials and is in the DenBaars Group as a member of the Solid State Lighting and Energy Electronics Center. Her work focuses on the development of III-nitride active regions for lasers and other photonic devices. Her interest in quantum materials lies in the heterogeneous integration of photonic integrated circuits for applications in quantum sensing.
