Hongyi Guan

Bio: Hongyi obtained his B.Sc. degree in physics from Jilin University. In his undergraduate period, he became interested in condensed matter physics and studied hydrogen rich superconductors at high pressure. He is now a Ph.D. student in materials department in UCSB and joined Chris Van de Walle group in 2022. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and playing electronic games.

Research: Hongyi’s current research interest is to use first-principles calculations to study nonradiative recombination rates in wide band gap semiconductors.
