Madeleine is a Ph.D. student and NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the UCSB Physics Department. She earned her B.A. at Barnard College, and worked at LBNL on neutrino detector R&D as an undergraduate intern, and in the Berkeley ATLAS group as a post-baccalaureate intern. She is currently working in Prof. David Weld’s ultracold atomic physics group on building a novel optical tweezer machine for the manipulation of individual, and degenerate quantum gases of potassium atoms. She grew up in Oakland and San Francisco, CA, and loves all the arts, being outside, making things, and the ocean. Madeleine's focus of research is building a novel optical tweezer machine for the manipulation of individual, and degenerate quantum gases of potassium atoms.
