Andrea Capa Salinas
Bio:
Andrea was born and raised in Loja, Ecuador and obtained her bachelor's degree in physics from California State University, Fresno. At Fresno State she began her research journey in the field of astrophysics, studying cataclysmic variable stars. Soon after, she decided to conduct research in condensed matter physics, where she studied filled skutterudite compounds for thermoelectric applications. Other research areas she explored while in undergrad were semiconductor device processing and computational physics.
Andrea joined UCSB in 2021 and is currently pursuing a PhD in Materials Engineering. Her focus is on the synthesis and characterization of kagome metals for quantum applications. She hopes one day her research can further the advancement of information sciences and energy-efficient applications.
