Ethan Chen

UC Santa Barbara

Bio:

Ethan is a graduate student researcher in the Stemmer group. He completed his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry at University of California Davis, and performed research on metal intercalation and doping of two-dimensional van der Waals materials under Professor Kristie Koski. He has also interned at Sylvatex Inc–a startup focusing on sustainable methods of producing cathode active materials for lithium ion batteries–where he worked on developing a post-synthetic process of improving electrochemical performance. Now at UCSB his work is focused on Josephson junctions fabricated on cadmium arsenide, where he hopes to probe for unconventional superconductivity and induce non-trivial phases within the junctions. Outside of research Ethan enjoys analog photography, cooking, and listening to music.
