Bio:

Katie is from Silver Spring, MD, and earned her B.A in physics from Williams College. There she studied the randomness of rainfall on short length and time scales for applications in Liverwort reproduction with Professor Katharine Jensen. She also worked with Professor Catherine Kealhofer to investigate phonons in graphene via ultrafast electron diffraction. Her interest in energy materials lead her the Seshadri group at UCSB. There she began her PhD in materials by studying hard carbons for Sodium-ion batteries. Her current work focuses on investigating topological materials for low-energy switching behavior.
