Owen Sheekey
Owen is a graduate student in the UCSB physics department working in the group of Prof. Andrea Young. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a combined B.Sc. in Computer Science and Physics in 2021. At UBC, he worked in Joshua Folk’s group developing techniques for mesoscopic entropy measurements in GaAs quantum dots. Since then, he has been a graduate student in Prof. Andrea Young’s lab developing nanoSQUID-on-tip microscopy at ultra-low temperature. His work is focussed on magnetic imaging of graphitic multilayers, where strong electronic correlations lead to an exotic emergent many body phase diagram of superconductivity, orbital and spin magnetism.
