Biography

Linus grew up in Germany and obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in chemistry from the Technical University of Dresden. During his time in Dresden, he carried out research on superconducting Heusler compounds at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids. His interest in solid state chemistry and materials science brought him to UC Santa Barbara for the remainder of his Master’s thesis, where his research focused on magnetic nitride compounds as skyrmion host systems. Thereafter, he joined UC Santa Barbara for his PhD studies to continue research on nitride materials. Within the UC Santa Barbara Quantum Foundry, he studies the synthesis of topological nitrides and explores the physics of these compounds as potential electronic materials for quantum information science applications
