Quantum Industry Showcase 2022

UCSB hosted industry partners and students for an event in collaboration between the UCSB NSF Quantum Foundry, the Photonics Society at UCSB, a student-led chapter of Optica, SPIE, and IEEE with 55 participants in attendance.

The Quantum Industry Showcase (QIS) is aimed at connecting the industry partners with the graduate students and postdocs working in quantum materials and technologies, fostering networking, discussion, mentoring, and recruitment in service of the NSF Quantum Foundry's mission to develop a next-generation Quantum Workforce. The QIS event was sponsored in part by Oxford Instruments. The in-person event with a keynote given by Kevin Roche of IBM, featured presentations, panels with industry partners, a networking lunch, and a student poster session. The Quantum Industry Showcase was attended by industry partners from Nexus Photonics, Thorlabs, Quantinuum, Oxford Instruments NanoScience, Bleximo, HRL, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, Quantum Machines, Cisco, Honeywell, Nexus Photonics. Prior to the QIS event, Thorlabs provided students with a tour of their facilities.
