The Quantum Foundry Summer Internship program hosted 8 undergraduate students from across the United States for an 8-week program where interns were placed with graduate student mentors to complete quantum research. Intern projects included generation of 3D models of quantum photonic chips, testing of materials for semiconductor creation, and modeling of laser refraction to optimize energy efficiency. Interns participated in lab group meetings and worked in the research lab spaces, learning the ins and outs of quantum science research from some of the most cutting-edge researchers in the field. In addition to their lab work, interns participated in professional development workshops and toured the world-class facilities of UCSB's Quantum Foundry. At the end of the internship, interns participated in the CSEP Colloquium where they presented their research efforts over the summer to other CSEP interns and their lab groups. They also participated in the Annual CSEP Research Symposium alongside 84 other undergraduate researchers from across campus where they presented poster presentations depicting their key findings.
